ABOUT
Maria Battinelli is a young woman with an eye for art and design. Whether it is on a screen or a hands-on project, she is ready to jump right in, focus on the details, and build anything she sets her mind to.
Maria began her artistic journey following her father around with a hammer while he built their childhood home. Always her brothers’ and father’s shadow she developed a love for creating things with her hands. Along the way, she found her voice and began her musical journey by joining a number of choirs and being the front-woman of numerous bands. In an effort to round out her artistic passions further, she took to photography in 2007, which landed her at Parsons the New School for Design in 2009 to major in the field. The following year, Maria switched gears to major in Communication Design, focusing on digital and sound design.
In early 2011, Maria joined the team at ALL BLACK Footwear, where she has become the cornerstone of the company. Running the e-commerce site and social media handles more recently, she has always been responsible for the marketing materials, as well as the in-house Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator guru. In addition to the design and social aspects of the company, Maria is also responsible for managing the warehouse, inventory, customer service, and everything in between.
With her mind set on earning her Bachelor’s degree, Maria went back to school in 2015, taking classes online with the Art Institute of Pittsburgh - Online Division. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Science in Fashion Marketing & Management. This helped the young artist to focus her marketing skills and understand even more facets of the fashion business than what she had learned first-hand in her years working with ALL BLACK.
Maria’s most recent venture in her art comes with the beginning of a small, co-owned brand called Pins & Easels. Specializing in hand-embroidered Converse® hi tops, tote bags, and repurposed clothing items, the company is gaining recognition in the community, and a number of orders have been completed and delivered. This has been a test of patience, practice, and learning new mediums to share her art and passions with the world.
To put it simply, Maria has developed an artistry that spans the senses.
